Sunsetter
From Pseudoregalia Speedrun Wiki
Sunsetter is a movement/attack ability in Pseudoregalia that allows Sybil to perform a diving slam attack from the air.
Description
Sunsetter transforms aerial momentum into a powerful diving strike, propelling Sybil downward with tremendous force. The attack creates a shockwave on impact and can be canceled into a backtumble for advanced movement techniques.
How to Obtain
- Location: Found in Sansa Keep
- Always Available: Cannot be lost or removed from inventory
Mechanics
Basic Usage
- Input: Q (PC) / LT (Controller) while in the air
- Effect: Fast diving slam attack
- Damage: Low impact damage (5 damage)
Technical Details
- Air Requirement: Must be airborne to activate
- Speed: Rapid descent with acceleration
- Cancel: Can be canceled into backtumble
Special Properties
- Backtumble: Press jump before landing to cancel into backflip
- Momentum: Converts vertical momentum to downward force
- Combo Potential: Chains with other aerial abilities
Advanced Techniques
Backtumble Cancel
- Input: Press jump button before landing
- Effect: Cancels slam into backflip
- Timing: Precise window before impact
- Use: Advanced movement and positioning
Dive Combos
- Basic: Jump → Sunsetter → Impact
- Advanced: Sunsetter → Backtumble → Air kick
- Extended: Chain with Sun Greaves for air sequences
Combat Applications
- Aerial Assault: Drop attacks on enemies below
- Gap Closer: Quickly descend on distant foes
Movement Applications
Rapid Descent
- Quick Landing: Fast way to return to ground
- Precision: Aim for specific landing spots
- Momentum: Use speed for positioning
Positioning Tool
- Evasive: Backtumble to avoid counterattacks
- Offensive: Position for follow-up attacks
- Strategic: Control engagement distance
Exploration Uses

Strategy & Tips
Best Practices
- Timing: Learn optimal activation timing
- Positioning: Aim for maximum enemy grouping
- Canceling: Practice backtumble timing
Common Mistakes
- Missing Cancel: Forgetting to backtumble when needed
- Poor Positioning: Landing in dangerous areas
- Timing Errors: Activating too early or late
Advanced Tips
- Setup: Use other abilities to gain height
- Combos: Chain with air attacks for sequences
- Safety: Backtumble to avoid hazardous landings
Limitations
Restrictions
- Air Only: Cannot be used from ground
- Single Direction: Only dives downward
- Recovery: Brief vulnerability after landing
Situational Drawbacks
- Requires height for effectiveness
- Can be risky against agile enemies
- Limited control during descent
Synergies
